How do toric lenses work?

Toric lenses help to correct astigmatism. Toric lenses have a unique, elongated ‘torus’ shape (sort of like a flat, ring doughnut), which enables them to bend and flex to better meet the varying needs of astigmatic eyes.

Toric lenses also have varying degrees of strength across the lens to meet these needs. They are often thicker at the bottom of the lens, which helps to stabilise and secure them in place.
