Month-long comfort - Thanks to the combination of a highly breathable silicone hydrogel material and SmartShield technology that prevents the build-up of deposits these lenses remain comfortable throughout the entire month.
Healthy looking eyes - These lenses allow a rich nourishing flow of oxygen to reach your eyes, which reduces fatigue and ensures they look bright, white and healthy even over extended periods of wear.
Easy to insert - These lenses are ultra-thin and have a handling tint, which makes them easy to insert and remove.
Minimum fuss - If approved by your optician for extended wear, you can keep these lenses in overnight for up to 6 nights / 7 days at a time. This minimises maintenance so you can go about your day with no fuss.
Air Optix Aqua are monthly disposable contact lenses for those with myopia or hypermetropia (short- or long-sightedness). They are manufactured by Alcon and reviews describe these contacts as ‘first class’ and ‘comfortable when in constant use’.
Lenstore recommends Air Optix Aqua contacts for:
Please always check with your Optometrist first before purchasing new contact lenses that haven’t been prescribed.
Air Optix Aqua contact lenses are manufactured by Alcon.
Air Optix Aqua are sold under the joint brand of CIBA Vision / Alcon.
Air Optix Aqua are monthly disposable lenses.
Air Optix Aqua are made from Lotrafilcon B, an extremely breathable silicone hydrogel that allows up to five times more oxygen to reach the eye compared to hydrogel based lenses. This improves wearing comfort and helps to keep eyes healthier for longer.
Air Optix Aqua lenses use the following technology:
SmartShield technology- A design process that uses biocompatible plasma to create super smooth, hydrophilic lenses that help to prevent the build-up of otherwise uncomfortable deposits.
You can order Air Optix Aqua lenses from Lenstore in packs of 3x or 6x lenses.
Air Optix Aqua are available as multifocal lenses to correct presbyopic vision.
Although CIBA Vision / Alcon don’t manufacture an Air Optix Aqua lens for astigmatic prescriptions, they do offer Air Optix for Astigmatism.
If you are considering other monthly lens options, you must consult your optician first, who will assess the suitability of other lenses for your eyes and then fit them correctly.
Lenstore recommends the following alternatives
Air Optix plus HydraGlyde are monthly disposable contacts that use SmartShield technology to minimise the build-up of deposits and keep lenses smooth and comfortable, even over periods of extended wear. The added HydraGlyde technology creates and retains a layer of moisture between the eye and the lens to maintain hydration, while the breathable silicone hydrogel material allows oxygen to flow through and keep eyes white and healthy.
Biofinity lenses are comfortable, breathable contact lenses that allow optimal oxygen to reach the eyes. Aquaform technology helps these lenses to retain moisture and keep eyes hydrated, while an aspheric design increases depth of focus and delivers crisp, clear vision. They can also be worn as continuous wear lenses, for up to 29 nights - if approved by your optician.
Air Optix Aqua are monthly lenses and can be worn for 30 days as daily wear. According to Alcon, Air Optix Aqua are also licensed for up to 6-nights extended wear - if approved by your optician to do so.
Yes, Air Optix Aqua are monthly disposable lenses, if you wear them on a daily basis, which means you’ll need to remove, clean and store them each night.
They can also be worn as extended wear lenses for up to 6 consecutive nights - if approved by your optician.
If you are approved for extended wear lenses by your optician, then yes, you can sleep in Air Optix Aqua Monthly lenses. You can wear them overnight for a maximum of 6 continuous nights.
Whether Air Optix is better than Acuvue depends on your lifestyle, prescription and eyes. If we compare the monthly Air Optix Aqua lenses with the two weekly Acuvue Oasys Hydraclear Plus lenses, then the Acuvue lenses have a higher water content and are thinner, more breathable lenses, so may be slightly more comfortable in the eyes. However, they need to be changed more regularly than Air Optix lenses.
