Avaira Toric contact lenses were designed and manufactured by CooperVision, a global, leading eye care specialist. Manufacture of this lens has been discontinued by CooperVision, but they are still available to purchase while availability lasts.
Avaira is a brand owned and operated by CooperVision.
Avaira Toric are a monthly-use contact lens for wearers with astigmatic prescriptions. As monthly-use, they can be worn for up to 30 days, being removed, cleaned and stored correctly overnight after each day of use.
Avaira Toric contact lenses are made with Enfilcon A. Enfilcon A is a silicone containing hydrogel with a water content of 46%. The material has a handling tint which is added for easier handling, and a UV absorbing monomer to block UV radiation.
Avaira Toric lenses have been made by CooperVision with several technologies designed to improve the effectiveness of the contact lens.
Aquaform Technology - CooperVision’s exclusive Aquaform Technology attracts and binds water in the lens to retain moisture, even during times of reduced blinking. This technology works by locking water molecules in the lens, to create a naturally wettable surface, meaning that less silicone needs to be used to increase breathability, helping to keep wearers’ eyes clear, white and healthy.
Optimised Lens Geometry - Optimised Toric Lens Geometry provides a multifaceted toric lens that provides consistent lens stability, fit. This technology works by offering a uniform horizontal ISO thickness, which improves lens stability and reduces rotation, as well as a larger toric optic zone which provides clear visual acuity. It also adds an optimized ballast toric design, which promotes stability and comfort.
Avaira Toric contact lenses are available in packs of 3. As a monthly-use option, each lens can be worn for up to 30 days, being removed, cleaned and stored correctly overnight after each day of use. A pack of 3 lenses will last for around 3 months before needing to be replaced.
Avaira Toric contact lenses are designed and made by CooperVision for wearers with astigmatic prescriptions, though other options are available for other needs. For myopia and hypermetropia (short and long-sighted) prescriptions, CooperVision offers Avaira Vitality contact lenses. They do not offer an Avaira branded multifocal option, though they do make other lenses for this prescription.
Not sure that Avaira Toric contact lenses are the right choice for you? You may want to consider alternative brands.
Before you try a different brand of contact lens, you will need to consult your optician to make sure that any alternative is suitable for you, and also fitted correctly.
Avaira Vitality Toric contact lenses are an alternative option designed and made by CooperVision. Designed for people with an astigmatic prescription, these lenses include a UV filter that blocks more than 90% of UVA and 99% of UVB rays, making them a good option for wearers who spend a lot of time outdoors, either for work or leisure. Avaira Vitality Toric are made using a breathable silicone hydrogel, combined with an enhanced water content, that creates a lens that provides more comfort. They are also a monthly-use lens, meaning that they can be worn for up to 30 days, as long as each lens is removed, cleaned and stored overnight after each day of use.
Biofinity Toric is another alternative, monthly-use contact lens from CooperVision. Thanks to the highly breathable silicone hydrogel material and CooperVision’s Aquaform technology, these lenses deliver great wettability, as well as optimum comfort over very long periods of wear - ideal for continuous wear. They also offer stable vision thanks to the use of optimised toric lens geometry. Biofinity Toric are designed specifically for astigmatic prescriptions, and are monthly-use, meaning that they can be worn for up to 30 days, being removed, cleaned and stored correctly overnight after each day of use.
CooperVision has discontinued the manufacture of Avaira Toric, though they can still be worn and used normally providing there is availability. CooperVision makes other lenses for astigmatic wearers, including some of the alternatives listed on this page.
The main difference between Avaira and Avaira Vitality is the material used, with Avaira Vitality offering wearers a higher water content, with improved protection from a Class 1 UV filter.
